Experience the Unhotel, Where Every Stay is a Unique One
The Townsman is unlike your typical hotel. That's why we call it the unhotel. Poised just above Charlottesville's historic Downtown Mall with no staff and no front desk, it feels like a well-kept secret right in the center of all the action. We offer four uniquely-designed rooms, each with its own character and charm. From the Secretariat room's classic comforts to the Meriwether room's modern, Southern elegance, we have a room that will make you feel right at home.
Our Unique Approach
At The Townsman, we're committed to giving you the best possible experience. That's why we've pared ourselves down to the essentials: an incredible location, four uniquely-designed rooms, and great prices. We don't believe in charging you for things you'll never use. Instead, we focus on providing you with a comfortable and convenient place to stay. Once you book with us, we'll give you a personal code that grants you access to the hotel and your room. After that, all you have to do is show up. No check-in. No hassles.
Our Rooms
Our four rooms are designed to provide you with a unique and comfortable place to stay. The Secretariat room is perfect for those who love classic comforts, with antique woods, leather accents, and gold finishes that create a warm, Virginian retreat. The Poe room has a black-and-white color scheme with bronze accents, giving it an urban sensibility touched with a mid-century chic. The Faulkner room blends modern touches with the atmosphere of a more romantic era, making you feel like you're settling into a private sitting room filled with literary ramblings and evening plans. The Meriwether room is inspired by a sense of adventure and grounded with a modern, Southern elegance, letting you know you've arrived at a highlight of your travels.
Services and Amenities
