Our mission is to be a welcoming worship community where God's presence is felt and from which we are sent to proclaim Christ's love and serve others. Our vision is to share God's love with the people of our area, nation, and world and be a place where people from all walks of life can learn how to be a Beloved Community together. Our core values are centered around worship, fellowship, service, and historical presence. We believe that worship is essential to our spiritual growth and development, and that fellowship is vital to our emotional and relational well-being. We believe that service is essential to our Christian witness and that historical presence is important to our identity and connection to our Anglican tradition.

Our Church

We are a beautiful old church with a rich history and heritage. Our church was established on August 18, 1855, as Trinity Parish, with the Rev. Hanibal Pratt as minister. Over the years, we have weathered many challenges, including a yellow fever epidemic, major floods, and many other challenges. Despite these challenges, we have continued to grow and thrive, and we continue to worship God in this beautiful old church.

Our Ministries

At St. James Episcopal Church, we have several ministries that seek to serve our community and the world. Our ministries include our preschool, which provides a safe and nurturing environment for young children, and our outreach programs, which seek to serve those in need. We also have ministries that focus on worship, education, and fellowship, and we seek to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all people.

Our Preschool

Our preschool is a licensed, half-day and whole-day Christian preschool in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, serving children ages 2 years to 5 years old. Our preschool is designed to provide a nurturing and educational environment for young children, and we seek to help them develop a strong foundation in faith and a love for learning.
