Not just healthcare, a healthier community
Midvale Community Building Community (CBC) is a non-profit organization that has been serving vulnerable communities in Utah since 1998. We are more than just a healthcare provider; we strive to create a healthier community by offering low-cost or no-cost services to those who need them most. Our mission is to provide comprehensive healthcare and family services that celebrate diversity and empower individuals to reach their maximum potential.
Who We Serve
At Midvale CBC, we are committed to supporting the low-income, uninsured, and underinsured community in Utah. We offer integrated services in four key areas: medical care, dental care, mental health, and family services. Our goal is to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to those who may not have had access to it before.
Our Services
*Medical Care*
We offer a range of medical services, including routine care, immunizations, disease management, laboratory and specialty care. Our team of healthcare professionals is committed to providing high-quality, culturally and linguistically appropriate care to all of our patients.
*Mental & Emotional Health*
At Midvale CBC, we understand that mental and emotional health are just as important as physical health. That's why we offer therapy and support groups to guide individuals through stressful times. Our events take place in Salt Lake and Summit counties, and we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for all participants.
*Dental Care*
Good dental health is essential to overall health and well-being. At Midvale CBC, we offer dental services such as regular check-ups, fillings, prevention, and treatment for the whole family. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality dental care, regardless of their income or insurance status.
*Family Services*
We recognize that healthcare is just one aspect of a person's life, and that's why we coordinate services such as legal services, health education, food & diaper distribution, and after-school children programs. Our goal is to support families in every aspect of their lives.
Our History
Midvale City began the Community Building Community Initiative in 1998 in response to alarming rates of suicide, infant mortality, teen pregnancy, mobility, and limited healthcare and dental access in Midvale. Since then, we have evolved from a dental chair in the basement of City Hall to a trailer and finally to our 3,000 square foot building next to the 7200 South transit stop. We are proud to provide services to community members across the Salt Lake Valley and in Summit County.
Our Staff
As a minority-led organization, we are part of the community we serve, and we never stop creating new solutions. Our team is fully committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people who historically have been left behind from the healthcare system. We provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health education, link families to services, and reduce misinformation.
*Medical Students*
We collaborate with the University of Utah Eccles School of Medicine to provide practice opportunities for medical students. Students gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of medicine for the underserved, while our patients receive access to specialty care from the University of Utah, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, pediatrics, and pharmacy.
*Volunteers*
Our dedicated community volunteers are the engines of our clinic. Many have their own clinical practices or are retired, and they enjoy practicing at the CBC because they can truly put patients first. Our volunteers include clinicians in medicine, dental, pharmacy, and physical therapy, as well as community members who volunteer in our office. We work with local businesses and Rotary Clubs to host volunteers days at the CBC.
*Supporters*
We are grateful for the support of our partners and supporters, who make it possible for us to provide lifesaving primary care, dental, and preventive community services for community members traditionally left behind. Our partners include the University of Utah Eccles School of Medicine, Utah Office of Health Equity, Utah Office of Primary Care and Rural Health, Utah Office of Multicultural Affairs, Anne Lalor Burdick Foundation, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cigna Foundation, City of Midvale, Dominion Energy, Intermountain Healthcare Foundation, and many
