Our Story

Miss Karen's Dance Studio was born from a passion for dance and a desire to share that love with others. Founded in 2012 within the warm embrace of Miss Karen Riehl's home, the studio quickly blossomed, reflecting a growing community of dancers eager to learn and grow. Recognizing the expanding need for a larger space, Miss Karen made a heartfelt decision to move the studio to a spacious location in Forks Township, her hometown, in 2014. From humble beginnings in a basement, Miss Karen's Dance Studio has evolved into a vibrant hub of dance education, fostering creativity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the art form.

About Miss Karen

Miss Karen Riehl, the owner and director of Miss Karen's Dance Studio, is a lifelong devotee to dance, weaving her passion into every aspect of the studio. A proud native of the Lehigh Valley, Miss Karen's dance journey began at Nardi's Dance Studio, where she cultivated her foundational skills. Furthering her pursuit of excellence, she delved into the world of classical ballet under the esteemed guidance of Alexi Ramov at the Lehigh Valley Ballet Guild.

Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Miss Karen immersed herself in renowned summer dance programs, honing her techniques and expanding her artistic horizons. Her dedication earned her a coveted place at the PA Governor's School of Performing Arts, where she received rigorous training from master teachers across diverse dance disciplines.

Miss Karen's academic achievements are as impressive as her dance technique. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Point Park University, solidifying her theoretical understanding of dance principles. But her passion for dance extended beyond the stage. Miss Karen earned an elementary teaching certification from DeSales University, merging her love for dance with her desire to empower young minds.

Throughout her career, Miss Karen has graced the stages of the Lehigh Valley with her talent, performing with Dance Ging and various roles with Pennsylvania Youth Theater. Beyond performances, Miss Karen dedicated over a decade to teaching within the Wilson Area School District, igniting a love for dance in generations of young learners. Her choreographic talents have also graced the stages of Wilson Area High School, bringing vibrant and engaging productions to life. Miss Karen's commitment to the community extends to her work with children at the "Y" Daycare, where she conducts dance enrichment programs, fostering a love for dance in the youngest dancers. Currently, she serves as the Assistant Director of the Moravian College Dance Company, further enriching her experience and mentorship.

Miss Karen's journey exemplifies the power of passion, dedication, and the transformative nature of dance. Her unwavering commitment to nurturing young dancers has made Miss Karen's Dance Studio a cherished institution, a place where dreams take flight and artistry flourishes.
