Crystal Coin and Jewelers, formerly known as Adolph's, has been a staple in the Crystal City and Festus community for over 70 years. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in our long-standing history and our commitment to providing exceptional jewelry and coin services.

Our History

The story of Crystal Coin and Jewelers began in 1946 when Herman Chappue opened his family jewelry store. Chappue sought to create a more personal experience for ring buying, as independent jewelers were becoming increasingly rare. His dedication to honest and fair business practices quickly established a lasting reputation for the store. When Chappue retired, he sold the business to Mr. Adolph, who continued to run the store with the same values and quality repair services.

After Mr. Adolph's passing, his wife, Ruth, took over the store and ran it successfully for nearly a decade. However, when Ruth's children were unable to continue the family business, it was sold to Charles Medlock in 2004. With the help of his daughters, Charles maintained the store's reputation for seven years.

In 2011, Brad Basler, the current owner and operator, decided to retire from his career at Edward Jones. After learning about Brad's plans, Charles saw an opportunity to pass the torch. Charles sold the store to Brad, and the two became partners for a year before Charles moved to his dream town of Fair-Hope, Alabama.

To this day, Brad, Phyllis, Sarah, and the rest of the fantastic team continue to run Crystal Coin and Jewelers with the same integrity and honesty that Herman Chappue envisioned over 70 years ago.
