Helping You to Navigate through the Waters of Life

I am Mary Essig-Morrow, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep commitment to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of life. My passion lies in empowering my clients to discover their inner strength and make positive changes that lead to lasting well-being. With over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and triumphs that each life stage presents. I believe that therapy provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, leading to greater self-awareness, personal growth, and meaningful connections.

I bring a diverse range of experiences and expertise to my practice, drawing from my background in education, administration, and counseling. My educational journey has included earning both a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University, Honolulu, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Franklin Pierce University. Furthermore, I hold a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Troy State University, which has provided me with valuable insights into organizational dynamics, communication patterns, and effective leadership skills.

My approach to therapy is deeply rooted in the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is paramount to successful outcomes. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and vulnerabilities. Within this framework of trust and mutual respect, I employ a collaborative and solution-focused approach, working alongside my clients to identify their strengths, set realistic goals, and develop personalized strategies for overcoming obstacles.

I recognize that communication is often at the heart of many challenges faced by individuals, couples, and families. I prioritize strengthening communication skills as a core element of my therapeutic interventions, equipping clients with the tools to express their needs effectively, listen empathetically, and resolve conflicts constructively.

My therapeutic toolbox is eclectic, drawing from various modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Family Systems Therapy. This flexibility allows me to tailor my approach to meet the individual needs and preferences of each client, ensuring a personalized and impactful therapeutic experience.
