Our Story

At Gray Funeral Home, Inc., we are proud to be a family-owned and operated funeral home that has been serving families in the Wood River area for over 40 years. Our story began in 1978, when two South Roxana brothers, Laren A. and Glen D. Gray, purchased the building at 205 E. Lorena Ave. and remodeled the facility. The brothers, who were both U.S. Army veterans, had both served during the Vietnam War. After returning home, they went on to attend the Mortuary Science program at Southern Illinois University, where they received their Associates degrees and became licensed Funeral Directors and Embalmers.

Our team is comprised of experienced professionals who understand the importance of honoring the life and memory of a loved one. Our funeral home is located at 205 E. Lorena Ave. in Wood River, Illinois. The facility has been extensively renovated to provide a comfortable and peaceful environment for families to gather and remember their loved ones. Our chapel and lounge offer ample seating and a variety of amenities to make planning a funeral or memorial service a breeze.
