Our Story

At City Tire, we take great pride in our heritage and the values that have guided us over the past 94 years. Founded in 1927 by Irving "Greeny" Greenberg, our company was built on the principles of "Quality and Honesty are what keep a customer." These core values have remained central to our business, and we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do.

History

City Tire was founded by Greeny, a Russian immigrant who came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1906. With a strong work ethic and a passion for innovation, Greeny started small, selling tires locally produced from manufacturers such as U.S. Royal (now Uniroyal) and Fisk. Over the years, we have grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of our customers, expanding our product line to include a wide range of tires from top brands around the world.

Growth and Expansion

In the 1950s, Greeny passed the reins to his son Larry, marking the beginning of a new era for City Tire. During this period, we grew significantly, expanding our retail operations to four stores across southern New England. The 1980s saw the next generation of leadership, with Peter and Dan Greenberg joining the business and driving further growth and expansion. Today, we operate nine locations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.
