Welcome to Boston Driving School. My name is Tony Lane, and for nearly 30 years, I've been dedicated to providing top-quality driving instruction to students in Boston. As one of the city's leading driving instructors, I pride myself on my experience, qualifications, and commitment to ensuring every student feels confident and capable behind the wheel. I'm approaching retirement, which means I'm gradually reducing my hours. If you're interested in learning to drive with me, please don't hesitate to reach out. Please note that while I'm passionate about helping students, my car is not available solely for driving tests. I kindly request at least three weeks' notice from students if they wish to reschedule a test. As long as they use my ADI number, I'm happy to support them throughout the process.

Beyond being a highly experienced, fully qualified driving instructor, I'm also a qualified Assessor, Coach, and Mentor. This means I have a deeper understanding of teaching methods and can tailor my approach to meet each student's individual needs. I've gained significant experience working with learners who are Dyslexic, Autistic, Dyspraxic, or whose first language is not English. I'm confident in my ability to create a supportive and effective learning environment for everyone.

My teaching philosophy revolves around a holistic approach. Every lesson is meticulously crafted based on your demonstrated skills, your learning goals, and what I believe is essential for your success on the road. I maintain detailed notes on everything we've covered and discussed in our sessions. This ensures that each subsequent lesson builds upon the previous one, making the learning journey smooth and comprehensive. Following each lesson, I send you a text confirming the date, time, and key points we addressed, solidifying your understanding and providing a clear outline for future lessons.

Comprehensive Training Resources

I've developed a comprehensive Training Syllabus, outlining the various topics we'll cover to prepare you thoroughly for your driving test. To further enhance your understanding, I've created a Training Matrix that students can use to self-assess their progress. This resource integrates with the Syllabus, allowing you to track your strengths and identify areas that need more focus. The Training Matrix encourages proactive learning, revision, and reflection, ultimately supporting your journey toward becoming a confident and skilled driver.

My commitment to your success extends beyond in-car training. I offer FREE Online Theory Tests to help you practice and familiarize yourself with the knowledge required for the official test. This allows me to understand your progress, address any areas of difficulty, and tailor our in-car lessons accordingly. By utilizing these online resources, you can potentially reduce the number of lessons needed to become test-ready. Many students have reported shaving off three or more lessons by actively engaging with the online theory training and using the Training Notes and Matrix.

To complement the in-car sessions, I provide FREE Online Practical Training Notes. These accessible notes, paired with visual aids and relevant YouTube videos, reinforce learning and provide a valuable resource for self-study. Whether you prefer visual learning, reviewing past lessons, or preparing for upcoming topics, my online training notes offer flexibility and support throughout your learning journey.

A Client-Focused Experience

I believe in creating a positive and supportive learning environment for every student. My Customer Charter outlines my commitments to ensuring your experience is as rewarding as possible. I strive to provide the best possible instruction, guided by the Driving Standards Agency's code of practice. You can expect a clean, road-worthy vehicle for your lessons and tests (weather permitting), door-to-door service for each lesson lasting a minimum of one hour, and a smoke-free environment inside the car. Lessons are available Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

For those seeking intensive practical training leading to a test within a condensed timeframe, I offer flexible options. A comprehensive assessment lesson is required to determine your skill level and the necessary hours of training. This assessment, along with an optional Mock Test, helps gauge your readiness for the practical driving test, ensuring we tailor a program that meets your specific needs.
