Our Mission: Empowering Hawaii's Agriculture Industry

The Synergistic Hawaii Agriculture Council (SHAC) stands as a beacon of support for the diverse agricultural landscape of Hawaii. Founded by the Hawaii Papaya Industry Association (HPIA), the Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association (HFNA), and the Hawaii Coffee Association (HCA), SHAC represents over 519 businesses across the State of Hawaii. Our mission is to unite these voices, fostering growth and resilience in the face of challenges.

Who We Are

SHAC is a non-profit, state-sanctioned organization driven by the passion and expertise of our member associations. We stand in solidarity with:

• The Hawaii Papaya Industry Association representing papaya farmers and businesses.
• The Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association supporting the floriculture and nursery industry.
• The Hawaii Coffee Association advocating for the coffee farming community.

Our Commitment to Disaster Relief

In 2018, the devastating eruption of the Kilauea volcano significantly impacted Hawaii agriculture. SHAC emerged as a pivotal resource for affected farmers, providing assistance and guidance through:

• Disaster assistance coordination: Connecting farmers with emergency funding, resources, and support programs.
• Business and marketing planning: Assisting farmers in developing post-disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Skills refresher courses: Equipping farmers with updated skills and knowledge to navigate challenging circumstances.
• Cohort land replacement: Exploring options for farmers to regain access to vital land resources.

Our Focus

SHAC advocates for policies and practices that benefit the entire agricultural ecosystem in Hawaii. We actively work to:
