Our History

In the 1970s, Freddie Satterfield left his corporate position to pursue the American Dream of owning his own business. In 1974, he founded an asphalt and concrete paving company in Durham, NC. Freddie believed that sharing his customers' vision of success was key to achieving their goals. Over the years, he continued to build on this idea, eventually partnering with his son Trent Satterfield to guide the company through its next stage of growth. In 2018, as Freddie prepared to retire, the company was sold to John Strenkowski, who has a strong background in construction management. John and the rest of the Satterfield Paving team are dedicated to building on the successful foundation established by the Satterfields, focusing on delivering exceptional services to our customers for years to come.
