Welcome to Jute Interior Design, where we are dedicated to creating grounded and beautifully comfortable spaces that are crafted with a deep respect for the earth. Our one-of-a-kind, welcoming spaces are designed to be in harmony with the natural environment and the specific needs of the families who inhabit them. We are committed to luxurious sustainable design without compromise, and we believe that it is possible to create interiors that are both stunning and mindful of the planet.

Our founder, Ali Davin, has an art-centric ethos and a comprehensive knowledge of environmentally safe, nontoxic materials. She began her career steeped in art and antiques while working at institutions such as the J. Paul Getty Museum and Bonham's auction house in Los Angeles. Her insatiable curiosity for all things design and hands-on approach inspired her to launch Jute Interior Design in 2009, with studios in Sausalito and Santa Monica. We provide full-service residential interior architecture and design services that are rooted in a holistic philosophy.

At Jute, we believe that interiors should be richly layered, natural light-flooded, and rendered in warm palettes that respond to context. Our designs are inspired by the natural world and the unique needs of each family, rather than chasing after fleeting trends. We take pride in the inspiring results that we create, which are better for our clients, the surrounding community, and the planet.

We are experts in creating healthy homes, and we offer consulting services to help you select the healthiest materials for your home through consultations on planning, sourcing, and building a healthy home. We have over fifteen years of experience utilizing non-toxic design methods and are experienced in working with chemical and environmental sensitives. We believe in constructing clean purposeful spaces made to last a lifetime.

Our Founder

Ali Davin is the author of Live Natural: A Relaxed Approach to Creating Healthy Homes, and she writes the Sustainable Design column for Rue Magazine. Her work has been featured in Elle Decoration, Architectural Digest, and Luxe, among others. She is a member of the Design Leadership Network, the Good Future Design Alliance and the AD PRO Directory.
