Our journey began in Darlington, South Carolina, with founder Dale Locklair, a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture. With a modest loan from his parents and a burning passion for landscaping, Dale started Starwood with just a pickup truck, garden hoses, and shovels. Fueled by his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, he quickly gained a reputation for delivering quality work and exceeding client expectations within the Pee Dee area.

As the company flourished, Dale's brothers, David and Randy, joined the family business while still students at Clemson University. David pursued Civil Engineering, while Randy honed his skills in Ornamental Horticulture. Together, they expanded Starwood's capabilities and reach, venturing beyond Darlington to take on projects throughout South Carolina and beyond.

Joining the family effort were Dale's parents, who provided administrative support, and his father, who brought his experience from Dupont to contribute to the growing enterprise. This unique family dynamic fostered a culture of collaboration, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
