Getting Started

For many years, Potomac Animal Hospital was a large and small animal practice. In 1979, Dr. Michael Scott joined the practice and took over in December 1983. To keep up with changing demands, Dr. Scott gradually transitioned the practice into a state-of-the-art small animal practice with grooming and boarding. In 1997, we broke ground for the expansion and our first new boarders came on Thanksgiving in 1998.

Reviews
Positive: Wonderful care and attentive staff can be found at Potomac Animal Hospital, but it seems that consistency is lacking.
Negative: Many reviewers have expressed frustration and disappointment with the hospital's care, citing issues with quality of care, professionalism of staff, and inflexibility in policies and procedures.

Quality of Care and Animal Hospital Experience

The reviews provide a mixed assessment of the Potomac Animal Hospital experience. On the positive side, one reviewer, Andy Hasselwander, had a highly satisfactory experience with their cat's thyroid condition, which was successfully treated with a compounded transdermal medication. The reviewer praised the hospital's staff for being "super convenient" and listened to their concerns.

On the negative side, several reviewers have had unfavorable experiences with the hospital. Jason Geisinger, who had previously been a loyal customer, expressed disappointment and frustration with the hospital's care, particularly after Dr. Jason Scott took over as head of the practice. He alleged that Dr. Scott was too eager to recommend expensive procedures and treatments, and that the hospital's care was substandard. Unfortunately, the reviewer's cat eventually passed away due to complications from kidney disease, which they attributed to the hospital's failure to provide adequate treatment.

Another reviewer, J. T., had a similarly negative experience with the hospital's grooming services. They criticized the staff for being aggressive and having poor customer service skills, and felt that the hospital's policies were overly strict and inflexible. The reviewer also mentioned that the hospital's leadership was poor, with the owner, Shana, being dismissive and defensive when confronted with criticism.

Challenges and Concerns

Several themes emerge from these reviews, including concerns about the quality of care and the professionalism of the staff. Some reviewers felt that the hospital was more interested in generating revenue than providing high-quality care, while others criticized the hospital's policies and procedures as being overly strict and inflexible.

Conclusion

The reviews suggest that the Potomac Animal Hospital experience can be highly variable, depending on the individual's circumstances and interactions with the staff. While some reviewers have had positive experiences, others have been disappointed and frustrated with the hospital's care. It is essential for pet owners to be aware of these potential challenges and to carefully consider their choices when selecting a veterinary hospital for their pet's care.
