At Outer Drive Apartments, L.L.C., we have been locally owned and operated since 1967. Our commitment to providing a peaceful and quiet residential environment has been a cornerstone of our operations. As a family-run business, we prioritize maintenance, day-to-day operations, and prompt service. Our aim is to offer affordable and newly renovated 1 and 2-bedroom apartments that cater to individuals seeking a comfortable and well-maintained place to call home.
Our History
Our story began when Bill and Beatrice Deering, lifelong residents of Bad Axe, recognized the need for apartment housing in the area. They commenced construction on Outer Drive Apartments in 1967, adding a second building the following year. The apartments were purchased by Bryan and Pam Deering in January of 2020, after Bill and Beatrice retired and passed on the operational and administrative duties to their son and daughter-in-law in 2014. Since then, we have made significant improvements to the property, including new driveways, sidewalks, asphalt, windows, doors, a new carport, and an individual private fenced-in patio area per apartment (Building 3 only). We continue to renovate and update our apartments with ceramic tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom.
Services and Amenities
We offer a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the living experience for our tenants. Our two-story buildings, constructed in 1967 and 1968, house four 2-bedroom apartments and two 1-bedroom apartments in each building. Building 3, built in 1983, consists of twelve 2-bedroom apartments. We provide coin-operated laundry rooms, with two washers and two dryers, for use by tenants in each building. Additionally, there are non-locking storage rooms in the basement of each building for use by all tenants. Lockable storage cages are also available in the basement of Building 1 and 2.

Our apartments are located in a quiet and peaceful residential area on the west side of Bad Axe. We are close to schools, hospitals, dining, shopping, and recreational facilities, making it an ideal location for those seeking convenience and accessibility. Our proximity to these essential services ensures that our tenants can easily meet their daily needs without having to travel far.

Application and Leasing Process
If you are interested in renting an apartment with us, we require all applicants to complete a rental application. This can be done by clicking on the "Rental Application" link on our website, which will open a fillable PDF document. Once completed, you can return the signed document, and your name will be added to our waitlist. If an apartment becomes available and you are still interested, a non-refundable application fee of $25.00 will be required for a financial, criminal, and eviction background check. We also require all rental payments to be made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and you will need to complete an EFT Authorization form if you decide to rent with us.
