Since our founding in 2002, SHYC has evolved into a thriving club, welcoming over 250 families. What began as a gathering of friends sharing a love for sailing blossomed into a vibrant community with a unique blend of maritime spirit and social charm. Our journey began with a "virtual" club, where founding members hosted events in their homes and local venues, organizing sailing cruises and races across the enchanting waters of New England.

In 2004, the current clubhouse, located in the historic Monsanto Building, provided a permanent home for our growing membership. This beautiful space serves as the heart of our club, offering a welcoming atmosphere for both casual gatherings and formal events.

Our Services and Offerings

We offer a comprehensive range of on-the-water activities, including public racing events, cruises aboard our club-maintained Ideal 18s, and opportunities for women sailors to participate in both regatta racing and cruising. For those who prefer a more contemplative approach to enjoying the coast, we offer oar and paddle activities, allowing you to experience the tranquility of Stonington Harbor from a different perspective.

Our commitment to fostering a vibrant community extends beyond the water. Our clubhouse boasts a year-round bar and restaurant, serving delicious meals and refreshing drinks in a welcoming atmosphere.
