Our Mission and Vision
At Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom, our mission is to develop students' understanding of Wyoming's vast resources in order that they become informed citizens, capable of serving as stewards for Wyoming's future. Our vision is to envision a future in which the interdependence of Wyoming's people, agriculture, and natural resources is acknowledged and valued for the benefit of all our communities.
Our Purpose and Core Beliefs
Our purpose is to provide educational resources to empower Wyoming's future. We believe that Wyoming's youth and adults should have opportunities to explore the world of agriculture and natural resources through science-based education. We believe that Wyoming's education systems provide the most effective vehicle for delivering this knowledge and learning. We are committed to partnering in learning opportunities involving agriculture and natural resources.
Our Goals
We have set specific goals to assist Wyoming educators and students to develop a scientific, economic, and cultural understanding of Wyoming's agriculture and natural resources. We aim to create, provide, and promote quality educational materials on agriculture and natural resources in correlation to the Wyoming State Education Standards. Additionally, we manage the strategic and fiduciary responsibilities of Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom to maintain its role as a leading source for agriculture and natural resource education.
Our History
Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom has a rich history dating back to 1985. Our origins began with several committees fostering support for agriculture and natural resource youth education. In 1986, the organization was officially established and titled Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom. Over the years, we have continued to grow and evolve, working tirelessly to provide educational resources to empower Wyoming's future. Today, we continue to work towards our mission of developing students' understanding of Wyoming's vast resources in order that they become informed citizens, capable of serving as stewards for Wyoming's future.
Our Services
We offer a range of services to support Wyoming educators and students, including:
- Educational Activities: We provide educational activities for your family through our Family Learning Series, which was created with families in mind. This series of activities was written by educators on our staff and tested by our children.
- Curriculum: We offer a free, ready-to-teach curriculum for Wyoming educators and students grades 2-5, designed to minimize teacher prep needs and integrate with existing standards.
Our Programs
We offer a range of programs to support Wyoming educators and students, including:
- Wyo Wonders: This curriculum is a comprehensive and inquiry-based program that explores Agriculture, Minerals & Energy, and Outdoor Recreation & Tourism in Wyoming.
- Virtual Field Trips: We offer virtual field trips that allow students to explore Wyoming's agriculture and natural resources in a unique and interactive way.
- Educator Support: We provide support to Wyoming educators through our Educator Support page, which offers resources and materials to help educators integrate agriculture and natural resources into their teaching practices.
