At J.L. Apter Memorial Chapel, we are a 4th generation non-profit Jewish chapel dedicated to serving the Jewish community with dignity and superior service. Our philosophy is to create non-profit Jewish funeral homes with greatly reduced pricing, dignity, and superior service in the Apter family tradition. We have been serving the Jewish community for 122 years, and we are proud to announce our commendations from "Great Non-Profits" and "Chesed Match."

We are the only non-profit family managed Jewish funeral chapel in Essex, Morris, Somerset, and Sussex Counties, as well as the closest to Warren and Hunterdon and Middlesex Counties. Our mission is to serve and financially assist the Jewish communities of Essex, Morris, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren counties by lowering the cost and maintaining the dignity of the funeral, while donating to organizations that serve the Jewish community and working with all families to best provide them an affordable and memorable service.

From every full service funeral that J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels conducts, we donate up to $500* to either the family's synagogue or an organization of the family's choosing in our community. The locations of J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels permit us to serve those areas centrally, with ease of access to all airports, hospitals, and synagogues. Our pricing structure allows us to offer funerals from $4695* (BUT WE WILL ALWAYS HONOR ANY OTHER CHAPEL'S CHARGES) including up to a $500* donation as previously described.

We are family managed and operated and answer only to our client families, unlike other corporate and independent chapels with shareholders, partners, or layers of management to pay, which increase the funeral costs. To aide in the logistical issues of arranging funerals, J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels offers the option of at-need and pre-need arrangement conferences in the family home. This allows all family members, especially those unable to easily travel, to partake in the funeral arrangements without the feeling of any sales pressure.

1. Green Funeral Services & Planning: We are the only Jewish funeral home in our service area offering green funeral options.

2. Estate Settlement & Investment Re-registration: We offer this service through our affiliate, Sovereign Global Advisors.

3. Elder Care Counseling & Advisory Services: We provide these services through our affiliate, LMR Eldercare.

4. Valet Parking at Funerals and Houses of Shiva: We offer this service to ensure that our client families have a hassle-free experience during their difficult times.

5. Therapy Dog Availability for Funerals: We understand the emotional toll that losing a loved one can take, and we provide therapy dogs to offer comfort and support during funerals.

6. Virtual Funeral Services: We offer virtual funeral services via Facebook and Zoom, allowing family members who cannot physically attend the funeral to participate virtually.
