One Step Closer Therapeutic Riding

One Step Closer Therapeutic Riding Inc. is an award-winning equestrian organization that uses the human-horse relationship to help participants achieve their full potential - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We offer therapeutic riding and other equine-assisted-therapy to individuals with physical and/or emotional disabilities, and to U.S. Veterans recovering from physical and emotional trauma of war. Our programs aim to assist healing and physical development, stimulate learning, and build confidence and self-esteem.

Therapeutic Benefits

The special bond that develops between rider and horse is very important. It motivates participants in therapeutic activities. At One Step Closer, we nurture this relationship using natural horsemanship methodologies. Our Program Director is trained in the art of natural horsemanship and blends these skills into the therapeutic curriculum to offer a total equine experience. This makes One Step Closer a truly unique program.

Instructors and Leadership

Our programs are planned and supervised by a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. One Step Closer is led by a dedicated team of volunteers and supported by a great team of volunteers. We are a Christian-based organization, responding to the calling to serve those with special needs without bias of race, economic status, or religious beliefs.

Programs Offered

We offer a variety of programs including Adaptive Riding, School Readiness, Veterans Program, G.R.I.T Women's Group, and Families of Fallen Soldiers. Each program is designed to meet the specific needs of the participants, whether it's physical therapy, emotional support, or educational development.

Our equines are an integral part of the therapeutic process. We believe in the importance of nurturing the relationship between horse and rider using natural horsemanship methodologies. This approach creates a sense of trust, confidence, and mutual respect, essential for healing and growth.
