For a century, Brookshire Brothers has been a cornerstone of the communities it serves, starting as a small general store in downtown Lufkin, Texas, and growing into a family of retail brands that includes grocery stores, fuel stations, pharmacies, tobacco shops, convenience stores, coffee shops, and more. With over 150 locations across Texas and western Louisiana, Brookshire Brothers continues to expand and adapt to the unique needs of each community it serves. Our seven distinct retail brands - Brookshire Brothers, Brookshire Brothers Express, David's Supermarkets, David's Express, Pecan Foods, Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy and Tobacco Barn - reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, providing the freshest food, and giving back to the communities we call home.

Our History

Brookshire Brothers was founded in 1921 by brothers Tom and Austin Brookshire in Lufkin, Texas. The first expansion of Brookshire Brothers began in 1928 when the Brookshire family came together to build a strong regional company. In 1929, Wood and W.A. Brookshire withdrew from the company to form a separate company in Tyler, Texas, which became Brookshire Grocery Company. Brookshire Brothers continued to grow, acquiring Moore Grocery and Lufkin Produce Company in 1952.

In 1999, Brookshire Brothers embarked on an employee-owner stock buyout, further solidifying its commitment to its employees and the communities it serves. In 2014, Brookshire Brothers acquired the assets of David's Supermarkets, expanding its reach and diversifying its offerings. The launch of Brookshire Brothers Anywhere, an online shopping platform for grocery pickup and delivery, in 2018 was a natural evolution of the company's commitment to convenience and innovation. Brookshire Brothers celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021, a testament to the company's enduring legacy and commitment to its customers.

Our Brands

Brookshire Brothers offers a wide range of retail brands, each tailored to the unique needs of the community it serves. Brookshire Brothers stores are known for their food experts, experienced meat cutters, creative cake decorators, professional pharmacists, and friendly customer service teams. Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy provides professional pharmacy solutions with a personal approach to health, and our pharmacists strive to deliver individualized advice and support.

Brookshire Brothers Express stores offer the best of both worlds, combining traditional supermarket offerings with the convenience of a convenience store. These stores feature hot delis, fresh produce, and baked goods, as well as pharmacies in some locations. David's Supermarkets and David's Express stores offer a traditional supermarket experience, while Pecan Foods specializes in high-quality, locally sourced products. Tobacco Barn offers a wide range of tobacco products and accessories.
