Del Norte Child Care Council

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging the healthy growth, education, care, and development of children in Del Norte County. Our mission is to support services for families and child care providers, connecting them to professional resources, and providing opportunities for children to thrive.

Our History

Over 40 years ago, a small group of women recognized the need for families and providers to connect. They had a dream to create a system that would support working families by connecting them to professional quality child care. From a kitchen table, 6 women met and developed a plan. The group wrote countless grants and was awarded program funding. Most of these programs are still operating today. Today, the agency is still supporting services for Del Norte County by bringing families and professionals resources such as child care subsidy, family child care referrals, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, toy lending library, school readiness, child abuse prevention, car seat lending, childcare centers for preschool, after school care, and so much more.

At Del Norte Child Care Council, we offer a wide range of services to support families and child care providers. Our services include:

• Child care subsidy to help families pay for child care
• Family child care referrals to connect families with quality care providers
• The Child and Adult Care Food Program to provide nutritious meals to children in care
• Toy lending library and resource center for providers
• School readiness programs to prepare children for kindergarten
• Child abuse prevention programs to educate families and providers
• Car seat lending to qualifying families
• Childcare centers for preschool and after school care
• Parent education classes and resources
