Founded in 1986, the Sayat Nova Dance has dedicated over three decades to preserving and promoting Armenian culture through the art of dance. Apo Ashjian
Founder/Director
With over 40 years of experience, Apo Ashjian founded the company in 1986 after studying Armenian dance in Armenia. He directs performances combining traditional and modern elements while leading cultural preservation efforts.
Hagop Ashjian
Assistant Director
A veteran dancer since childhood, Hagop Ashjian has directed performances and taught Armenian dance since 1981. He brings decades of experience in traditional choreography and cultural education.
Shaghig Palanjian
Assistant Director
A founding member with 30+ years of experience, Shaghig Palanjian taught Armenian dance and contributed to cultural education programs until her passing. Her legacy continues through the company's mission.

We offer traditional Armenian folk dance performances ranging from 20-minute appearances to full two-hour productions with theatrical elements.

How can I join the company?
We accept new members over 16 years old twice yearly through open enrollment in January and September.

Full shows require stages at least 38 feet wide with lighting and audio capabilities; smaller performances have flexible requirements.
