Great Northwest, Inc. is a closely held business incorporated in the State of Alaska. Since our inception in 1975, we have evolved from a small residential landscaping contractor to a major general construction company. Over the years, we have specialized in various sectors including road and airport construction, site development, site reclamation, underground utilities, erosion protection, and riverbanks restoration.

Our mission statement reflects our commitment to providing quality construction at competitive rates, maintaining safe working conditions for all employees, and ensuring environmentally clean work sites. As a general construction company, we perform a wide range of construction services, from residential landscaping to heavy highway projects worth over $30 million.

We maintain strong ties to the local and statewide community, supporting many civic, youth, sports, and community organizations through donations of labor, equipment, material, cash, and goods. Additionally, we have active membership participation in these organizations.

Great Northwest, Inc. employs between 50 and 250 employees who are among the best of the Alaskan workforce. Many of our professional construction personnel have been with us for decades, sharing in our ideals of safety, respect, environmental responsibility, and quality workmanship. Our superior workforce has allowed us to hold a safety record that is among the best in the industry.

We employ a full-time safety manager and have developed a comprehensive safety program to ensure that company employee's health and safety take priority over all company operations.

What We Do

Our primary product and construction services include the following types of work:

• Heavy highway road construction
• Road and Airport Construction: rural, remote, and urban sites
• Site development, including building foundation ground preparation, sewer, water, and storm drain utilities, parking lot grade preparation, and paving
• Utility construction, including Ductile Iron, HDPE, and Arctic Pipe installation
• Sewage treatment plant construction, including membrane-protected treatment lagoons and associated plant
• Cold Weather construction
• Equipment management and maintenance
• Erosion protection construction, including rip-rap and/or concrete mat stabilization
• Tank farm dike and liner repair/replacement
• Underground storage tank removal and replacement
• Petroleum Industry Construction

We also manufacture and/or supply the following products for our customers:

• Crushed Base Course - D-1 and E-1
• Structural Gravel
• RAP (recycled asphalt)
• Asphalt
