Our Services

We offer a variety of weight loss surgeries, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric sleeve, and gastric band adjustments. Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass:

This procedure is considered the 'gold standard' of weight loss surgery and can provide approximately 70-80% of excess weight loss within the first year after surgery. It is also a highly effective treatment for diabetes in obese individuals. Our skilled surgeons have performed the most laparoscopic gastric bypass surgeries in the Midwest, ensuring that you are in the best hands possible.

Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve:

This procedure removes approximately 75% of the stomach, resulting in a tubular ('sleeve-shaped') stomach that is more resistant to stretching than the stomach removed. It drastically reduces the amount of food patients need to feel full, and patients consume fewer calories. This procedure does not reroute or 'bypass' any intestine. Short-term studies show that the sleeve is nearly as effective as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass when looking at weight loss and improvement or remission of diabetes.

Gastric Band Adjustments:

We are pleased to offer office-based fluoroscopy to assist patients in maximizing the results of their gastric bands. Our physician assistants (PAs) precisely fill the Lap-Band with real-time visualization using office-based fluoroscopy and can quantify the amount of restriction change while adjusting the band volume. We can accurately achieve the level desired to control hunger AND avoid overfilling or obstruction of the Lap-Band.

Dr. Stanley Hoehn, MD:

Dr. Stanley Hoehn is the founder of The Bariatric Center of Kansas and serves as the Medical Director of the Weight Loss Surgery Program at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. He is a founding member of the BCKC Surgical Hospital and holds the position of Board President as well as Medical Director. Dr. Hoehn has been approved as an ASMBS Bariatric Center of Excellence Surgeon since 2006 and is Board Certified in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
