Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center

Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities through equine-assisted activities and therapies. Established in 1980 in a park with three riders, a group of volunteers, and a few borrowed horses, CTRC has grown to become a premier facility that offers a wide range of therapeutic services to people with disabilities, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Developmental Delays, Autism, Aspergers, Dementia, and Visual Impairment.

At CTRC, we believe in the healing power of horses. Our mission is to promote the physical, psychological, and social well-being of our participants through equine-assisted activities and therapies. We are committed to providing the highest quality services and creating a supportive and inclusive community for our riders, volunteers, and staff.

Our Services

CTRC offers a variety of services that cater to the unique needs of our participants. Here are some of the services we offer:

• Therapeutic Horsemanship: We offer therapeutic riding lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of each rider. Our PATH International certified instructors work with our participants to improve their physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
• Equine Assisted Therapies: We offer occupational, physical, and speech therapies that incorporate horses into the treatment plan. Our therapists work closely with our participants to achieve their specific goals and improve their overall quality of life.
• Equine Assisted Mental Health: We offer mental health services that incorporate horses into the therapy sessions. Our mental health professionals work with our participants to address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief.
• Participant Info Sessions, Schedule, Policies, and FAQs: We provide comprehensive information to our participants and their families about our programs, schedules, policies, and frequently asked questions.
• Volunteer Info, of the Month, Portal, and FAQs: We value our volunteers and provide them with the necessary resources and support to be successful in their roles. We recognize our volunteers through our Volunteer of the Month program and offer a Volunteer Portal for easy access to volunteer resources.
• Become a Supporter or Sponsor: We rely on the generosity of our supporters and sponsors to continue providing high-quality services to our participants. We offer various ways to support CTRC, including donations, sponsorships, and volunteering.
• Retired Horse Sanctuary: We provide a safe and loving home for our retired therapy horses. These horses have served our participants faithfully, and we are committed to providing them with the best care and quality of life in their retirement.
