Vermont Martial Arts Academy

Welcome to the Vermont Martial Arts Academy, a family-oriented Dojo that offers classes for kids as young as 4 through adults of all ages and experience levels. Our mission is to promote Health & Fitness through Martial Arts Training. We offer a variety of classes, including Adult Karate, Tai Chi Chuan, Aikijutsu, and Grappling, as well as programs specifically designed for children.

Our History

Established in 1981 by Rick Marallo Sensei, our Dojo in Rutland, Vermont, has been offering instruction for over three decades. We are proud to provide training in systems of Koro Ken Katate, Aikijutsu, T'ai Chi Chuan, and Kick Boxing, catering to individuals of all ages and health levels.

Class Offerings

Our Adult classes include Mixed Martial Arts, which involves standup sparing, grappling, and kickboxing, as well as Karate, focusing on discipline, mental and physical conditioning, and self-defense. Tai Chi Chuan, an internal form of martial arts, is also offered, emphasizing the principles of yin and yang and Chinese medicine. For our Youth, we have Karate programs designed to develop discipline, body conditioning, and self-awareness, teaching them to resist negative peer influence and prepare for life.

Dojo Locations

We have two Dojo locations: our main location in Rutland, Vermont, at 12 Merchants Row, and a secondary location in Manchester, Vermont, at 280 Airport Road. Both locations offer a range of classes, making it easy for anyone to find a class that suits their schedule and interests.
