A better way to better food.
At TerraPurezza, we believe in regenerating the Texas Hill Country and are committed to regenerative farming practices that not only preserve but also improve our natural resources. Our story began in 2015 when Tina and Orion Weldon founded our farm in Spicewood, TX, with the aim of creating a sustainable and nutritious food system. We believe that by combining traditional regenerative agriculture techniques with modern technology, we can build a more vibrant foundation for native plants and nutritionally-dense food.
Our farm, TerraPurezza, is the first model for economically viable regenerative agriculture. We prove that it's possible to build nutritionally-dense and scalable food systems that exist in balance with native ecologies. We have rejuvenated over 100 acres of native Texas prairie, with another 200 acres in progress. We believe in empowering others to adopt these practices and have conducted in-field research to ensure our results are data-driven and replicable.
We also offer educational experiences in nutrition, ecology, and public policy through collaborations with universities and other organizations. Our multidisciplinary approach to establishing a more resilient food system has been shaped by our backgrounds in nutrition, agriculture, technology, and conservation ecology.
The Farm
Our operations are focused on raising pigs, chickens, and sheep, with plans to add cattle, bison, quail, and other animals in the future. All of our animals are pasture raised and rotationally grazed. We use heritage breeds adapted for the Texas Hill Country, such as Large Black, Red Wattle, and Gloucestershire Old Spot crosses for our pigs. These breeds are more tolerant of the Central Texas climate than industrial meat pigs and produce outstanding meat. They are also more docile, which is important as we work closely with our animals during feeding and rotations.
The People
Our team is dedicated to implementing regenerative agriculture practices and making a difference. With backgrounds in nutrition, agriculture, technology, and conservation ecology, we apply a multidisciplinary approach to establishing a more resilient food system. We believe in empowering others to adopt these practices and have conducted in-field research to ensure our results are data-driven and replicable.
The Practice
We implement our ideals by focusing on rotational grazing of high-density livestock, effective water management via land augmentation, restoration of native grasses, and the highest quality of animal welfare. Our working farm is a real-world example for how different regenerative agriculture techniques can succeed at local and global scales. We have rejuvenated over 100 acres of native Texas prairie, with another 200 acres in progress.
Partnerships
We believe in the power of collaboration and partnerships. TerraPurezza collaborates with universities and other organizations to offer educational experiences in nutrition, ecology, and public policy. Our partnerships help us to further our mission of creating a more sustainable and nutritious food system.
