South Shore Yacht Club

South Shore Yacht Club (SSYC) is the biggest, friendliest, and most inclusive yacht club on Lake Michigan, fostering a vibrant community of people from diverse backgrounds. While we uphold traditional values, we are anything but stuffy. Our members enjoy a laid-back atmosphere, free from the pressures of everyday life. SSYC is a bustling hub all year round, unlike many yacht clubs that close down during winter. Our affordable dues and slip fees are made possible, in part, by the active involvement of our dedicated members in the club's maintenance. As a major player in the Great Lakes yachting community, SSYC offers an exciting sailing and power boating scene, attracting enthusiasts and social members alike.

Social Activities

Our club is known for its thriving social calendar. The restaurant is open every Friday for dinner, while the Entertainment Committee organizes various events such as Jazz Night, Mardi Gras, Kentucky Derby Review of the Fleet, Corn Roast, Oktoberfest, and New Year's Eve parties throughout the year. Informal gatherings are also common, fostering a close-knit community of members.

Sailing and Racing

SSYC offers numerous sailing and racing opportunities for enthusiasts of all skill levels. Racing fleets include women's, small boats, big boats, and double-handed fleets, each with its dedicated race days. Newcomers are welcome to join existing fleets or crew on boats. Powerboating

Junior Sailing School

SSYC's renowned junior sailing program offers year-round instruction for children aged 8 to 18, focusing on developing safe boating practices and nautical skills. Our comprehensive eight-week summer course emphasizes safety while teaching various levels of technique and skill. Facility and Location

SSYC boasts a full-service marina with 230 slips, crane, fuel dock, tender, dry-sail storage, and winter storage. The club grounds exude classic charm, with a stunning view of downtown Milwaukee's waterfront skyline. The first-floor bar and lounge are ideal for socializing and entertaining, overlooking the south basin anchorage. The upstairs restaurant offers gourmet cuisine and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. Our club remains active throughout the year, hosting regular theme nights and private events. Our calendar includes popular celebrations like the Change of the Watch and the ever-popular New Year's Eve bash.
