Wallace & Smith Contractors was founded in Bakersfield, CA in 1950 by Henry Wallace and Earl Smith. Bart Wallace and George "Bob" Smith, the next generation, acquired the company in 1983 and continued to develop the business with many of the original employees. Paul Cooper joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 2008. The Company has maintained a steadfast and significant presence in the San Joaquin Valley for decades and has continued to expand, opening a Central Coast office in Santa Barbara, CA in 2022. Wallace & Smith Contractors is now an employee-owned company. (ESOP) We believe in empowering our employees and supporting the local community.

• Design/Build: The fast track design-build delivery model is different from the traditional design-build in that the project continues moving forward as the final designs are being refined and the project is turned over in a final operational aspect.

We are proud of our projects, including:

• Delano Regional Medical Center: The Delano Regional Medical Center Outpatient Building was designed and constructed on as small of a footprint as possible.

• Park Square at Seven Oaks: Consists of 224 one bedroom, two bedroom and loft apartments with a clubhouse situated on 14 acres in the Seven Oaks master planned community.

• Dewar's Southwest: Dewar's new facility is a 6,365 square foot wood framed building with a 50's soda fountain and ice cream parlor.

• Aerospace Construction: A Design Build project that started with discussions between Wallace & Smith and Scaled Composites.
