Professionalism and Ethics
This section highlights the inconsistencies in Julie Anderson's behavior as a therapist. Lucy K. expressed her appreciation for Julie's insight, thoughtful, and concise approach, stating that she felt confident and happy after sessions. On the other hand, Charlotte B. experienced a traumatic and unprofessional experience with Julie.
Conflicts of Interest and Unprofessional Behavior
Charlotte B. reported that she became attracted to Julie during their two-year therapy sessions, which led to a case of transference. However, Julie failed to address this issue, instead changing the subject or reprimanding Charlotte for bringing it up. Charlotte felt ashamed and confused, especially since Julie is a lesbian herself and should be trained to be compassionate about lesbian issues. The situation escalated when Julie raised her voice at Charlotte, rolled her eyes, and stared at her hands during sessions, making Charlotte feel wrong for her feelings.
Abandonment and Trauma
Charlotte B. felt abandoned when Julie suddenly told her she was no longer allowed to see her, without explanation or resolution of the issues they had been discussing. The situation was traumatic for Charlotte, especially since Julie called the police to remove her from the office. This incident re-traumatized Charlotte, who had already experienced abandonment in her previous relationship.
