Jackson Yacht Club

Jackson Yacht Club, established in 1960, is a prominent yacht club in the South and a proud member of the Gulf Yachting Association (GYA). Our mission is to foster and encourage water sports, including swimming, sailing, power boating, and cruising, as well as to promote good fellowship and sportsmanship among our members. Our club provides a dynamic and engaging environment for individuals and families who share a passion for water activities.

Sailing Programs

Our club offers a wide range of sailing programs for members of all ages and skill levels. From beginner sailing lessons to advanced racing clinics, we aim to provide our members with the best resources and support to improve their sailing skills. Our members have access to a beautiful reservoir, where they can enjoy sailing and power boating in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Dining and Social Clubs

In addition to our sailing programs, Jackson Yacht Club offers exquisite dining and bar facilities. Our menu features a wide range of dishes, from classic American favorites to international cuisine. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing excellent food and service to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our members. We also offer a variety of social clubs and events, providing opportunities for members to connect, socialize, and build lasting relationships.

Leadership

Our leadership is composed of volunteers from among the Club Members. The Board of Governors includes the Flag Officers, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Flag Officers consist of the Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore, and Commodore. Our leadership is committed to upholding the values and mission of the club and providing the best possible experience for our members.

JYC Community Sailing Foundation

The JYC Community Sailing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) educational charity that provides community sailing instruction programs at the John W. McGowan Sailing Center on the docks of the Jackson Yacht Club. We sponsor First Sail Days, High School and Middle School Sailing teams, and contribute to the meets of the public Sunfish swim team. Our mission is to build sportsmanship, skill, and character through sailing and swimming.

Meet the Staff

Our staff is the heart and soul of our club. They are dedicated to providing excellent service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our members. Many of our staff members have worked at the club for decades and are considered part of our family.

Trophies

Each year, the club recognizes outstanding contributions to the club with perpetual trophies. These awards are nominated by the general membership and/or the Race Committee. The boating awards are selected by the Race Committee. The trophies are awarded at the Awards Banquet held in early January.

History

The Club was formed in 1960, prior to the construction of the Reservoir. Our mission was defined as supporting and encouraging water sports, including swimming, sailing, power boating, and cruising; and to provide good fellowship and sportsmanship among its members.

Hours and Directions

The Jackson Yacht Club is located at 700 Yacht Club Drive in Ridgeland, Mississippi. We are open Tuesday through Sunday, with opening hours that vary during the year.
