At Custom Coatings of Ukiah, we are equipped with a 20' ft. auto-recycling media blast room, and two industrial blast enclosures. This allows us to quickly and efficiently process large gates, car chassis's, and industrial equipment as well as small items such as animal cages and lawn furniture. Our Process

Powder coating is a dry finishing process. Finely ground particles of pigment and resin are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the products to be coated. The parts to be coated are electrically grounded, so that the charged particles adhere to them until melted and fused into a solid coating in a curing oven. The result is an attractive, durable, high-quality finish.

The powder coating process itself offers another advantage -- it is environmentally friendly. Virtually pollution-free, unlike liquid paint, no solvents are used, so only negligible amounts of VOCs are released into the air. In addition, unused or oversprayed powder can be recovered, so any waste is minimal and can be disposed of easily and safely.

Automotive and Motorcycles

When powder coating automotive parts, we are very meticulous about the work involved with preparing the metal to accept powder. The condition of the metal, crevice clearances, the quality of the fabrication, tubing size, etc. dictate the type of preparation involved. Ultimately, when the preparation is done properly, the final product is pristine, and durable. From restoring custom rims, bumpers, and chassis, to powder coating directly over newly purchased chrome parts, we have a wide range of colors and textures to choose from. We work directly with the powder manufacturers to color match to existing body parts and components.
