Dearing Concert Duo

The Dearing Concert Duo is an award-winning voice, flute, and classical guitar duo that specializes in providing enchanting music for weddings, private events, concerts, and recordings. Our team consists of Abha Dearing, a talented spinto soprano, and Steven Dearing, a gifted classical guitarist. Together, we create a unique blend of musical styles and techniques that have made us one of the most sought-after music duos in the metro Detroit area.

Our Story

Our journey began in 1998 when we started performing at wedding ceremonies as a way to supplement our income while pursuing our careers as concert artists. As our reputation grew, so did our demand. We were soon referred by wedding officiants, wedding coordinators, and wedding venues due to our exceptional talent, flexibility, charisma, and down-to-earth personalities. Today, we are recognized as one of the premier wedding musicians, concert performers, and recording artists in the region.

Our Music

Our music is a fusion of Western classical and Indian classical styles, reflecting Abha's diverse training and experience. As a flutist, Abha brings an added dimension to our performances, creating a rich tapestry of sound that captivates our audiences. Steven's classical guitar skills are equally impressive, with a wide repertoire that allows him to excel as both a soloist and an accompanist. His training under exceptional artists has equipped him with the technical proficiency and artistic expression that sets our duo apart.

Our Services

We offer our musical gifts for wedding ceremonies throughout the southeastern Michigan area, including Metro Detroit (Oakland County, Wayne County, Macomb County, Wastenaw County), as well as other locations in southeastern Michigan and Ontario, Canada. We are proud to be on the referral list at prestigious venues such as The Meadow Brook Mansion, The Henry Ford, and The Sacred Heart Academy.

In addition to wedding ceremonies, we also perform at concerts, universities/colleges, churches, art museums, and living rooms. Our past performances include distinguished events such as the Organization of American States for the Prime Minister of Canada, Oakland University for the President of India, and the memorial service for Edward McNamara, where we were heard by the mayor of Detroit, the Governor of Michigan, as well as congressmen and women.

Our Recordings

We have produced three critically acclaimed CDs: "Romanza!", "Snapshots of South America", and "Take One". These recordings showcase our unique blend of musical styles and techniques, offering listeners a glimpse into our artistic dialogue. Our music has been featured on television shows such as PBS's "BackStage Pass" and aired on radio, reaching millions of listeners in both the US and Canada.
