The Center for Interpersonal Effectiveness (CIE) exists to empower individuals and families to reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives. We believe in the power of authentic communication, mindful decision-making, and collaborative solutions to achieve lasting change.

Who We Are

An association of independent mental health professionals, CIE brings together experienced therapists, counselors, and support staff to provide a diverse range of services to clients in the greater Des Moines area. We are proud of our highly skilled, sensitive, and respectful clinicians and support personnel who are dedicated to offering high-quality, compassionate care.

What We Do

Our services are designed to address a variety of mental and emotional challenges, including:

Individual Therapy: Providing personalized support and guidance to overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, and personal growth issues.

Family Therapy: Strengthening family dynamics and relationships through therapy sessions that include the whole family.

Substance Abuse/OWI Evaluations: Comprehensive assessments to help individuals understand their struggles with addiction and find appropriate treatment.

Play Therapy/PCIT: Evidence-based interventions for young children to improve their social-emotional development and parent-child relationships.

Children in the Middle Class: Educational programs for parents to better understand and support their children's needs at various stages of development.

Telehealth Services: Convenient and accessible therapy sessions conducted via secure video or phone.
