The Natural Gait

At The Natural Gait, we believe in living harmoniously with nature while providing comfortable, memorable outdoor experiences. Founded by Howard and Donna Bright, our property features the Ion Inn cabin (sleeping up to 14 guests), the Mule-Tel cabin (sleeping up to 4 guests), and a campground with primitive and electric sites. Our 1878 Old Mission Drive location borders the Yellow River, offering direct access to fishing, canoeing, and hiking trails through Northeast Iowa's bluffs. The Ion Inn includes modern amenities like a full kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and wheelchair accessibility, while the Mule-Tel provides a cozy retreat above our barn.

Our campground accommodates tents and RVs, with firewood and ice available for purchase. Guests enjoy recreational activities including birdwatching, stargazing, and wildlife photography, with nearby attractions like the Mississippi River and Effigy Mounds. We prioritize creating spaces where families reunite, friends gather, and nature enthusiasts connect with the environment. Our booking policies ensure flexibility while maintaining quality standards, with payment options including cash, check, or credit card.
