The Texoma Area Solid Waste Authority (TASWA) was formed in 2000 by the cities of Denison, Gainesville, and Sherman, Texas, and by Cooke and Grayson Counties. Driven by the critical need for sustainable waste management in the Texoma area, we have dedicated ourselves to providing a comprehensive and environmentally responsible solution for our member cities, counties, and other communities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster a culture of waste reduction, recycling, and responsible waste management through innovative and sustainable solutions.

What We Do

TASWA operates and manages the Texoma Area Solid Waste Facility, a Municipal Solid Waste Type I Landfill that responsibly handles and disposes of waste while maximizing recycling and reuse opportunities. We also:

• Develop and implement long-term waste management plans to address the unique needs of the Texoma region.
• Promote and facilitate recycling programs by accepting various materials at our Recycling Center.
• Collaborate with our member cities and counties to identify and implement waste reduction initiatives.
• Stay updated on the latest regulations and technologies in waste management to ensure environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
