At Cazadero Music Camp, our mission is to bring the love of music and learning to youth. For over 60 years, we have provided a nurturing, inspirational environment for young musicians ages 10-18 from the Bay Area and beyond. Our unique approach to music education combines challenging repertoire with expert instruction and nurturing care, allowing our campers to grow as musicians and individuals.
Our Story
Founded in the 1960s by music educator and visionary Robert Lutt, Cazadero Music Camp was born from a desire to provide a transformative experience for young musicians. Over the years, we have remained committed to our core values of music education, community building, and personal growth. Today, we continue to thrive as a beloved summer music camp in Sonoma County, where talented young musicians from far and wide come together to make music, learn, and have fun.
Our Programs
At Cazadero Music Camp, we offer a comprehensive music education program designed to help students advance their musical skills. Our expert staff, comprised of professional musicians and educators, provide individual mentoring and group instruction to our campers. Our curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of students of all ability levels, from beginner to advanced. Students can choose to participate in ensembles such as Orchestra, Concert Band, or Jazz Ensemble, led by a new guest conductor each week.
Camp Life
Our rustic campsite, situated on 33 acres of beautiful redwood forest near the Russian River in Sonoma County, provides a true camp experience. Campers sleep under the stars, rehearse and play outdoors, enjoy the creek, pool, and campfire, and make lifelong friends. We offer a wide range of activities beyond music, including hiking, team-building games, and social events. Our campers thrive in our nurturing environment, where they can focus on their music and personal growth.
Our Community
Cazadero Music Camp is a vibrant community of young musicians who come together to share their passion for music. Our campers and staff are committed to supporting one another, and our camp is built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and camaraderie. We welcome students of all backgrounds and abilities to join us in our mission to bring music education to youth.
Supporting Our Mission
Cazadero Music Camp relies on the generosity of our donors and supporters to continue our mission. We offer various ways to give, from planned giving and endowment funds to one-time donations. Your support helps us provide scholarships to talented young musicians from under-resourced communities, ensuring that music education is accessible to all.
