Compassionate Psychiatry & Psychoanalysis in New York
As a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with over 30 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals achieve psychological growth, emotional well-being, and balance. My practice in New York City integrates modern psychoanalytic approaches with contemplative studies, drawing from ego psychology, object relations, attachment theory, self-psychology, trauma psychology, and neuropsychoanalysis. I work with adults and older adolescents facing challenges such as relationship difficulties, work-related stress, identity issues, grief, and life transitions. My extensive training includes graduation from and faculty membership at the Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY), where I serve as a training analyst. I also bring a deep understanding of Buddhist practices to my work, having studied meditation for over 20 years and completed multiple retreats. My approach emphasizes compassionate, scientifically informed relationships to help clients unlock their potential and use their minds creatively and joyfully.

I teach and supervise in psychiatric residency and psychoanalytic training programs, including at NYU Medical Center, and have received recognition for my teaching excellence. My practice is grounded in the belief that suffering often stems from habitual, unconscious patterns that can be transformed through insight and self-awareness. I provide tailored treatment plans, including psychoanalysis, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and supportive psychotherapy, to address each client's unique needs. My commitment to ongoing learning and integration of diverse therapeutic modalities ensures that I offer comprehensive, evidence-based care. I prioritize building safe, engaged relationships with my patients to foster meaningful change and help them live more fulfilling lives.
