Our Services

At BIG T's SEPTIC, we offer a variety of services designed to keep your septic system in optimal condition. Our services include:

  • Tank Pumping: We recommend having your tank pumped at least once every five years to keep your tank and septic system in proper working order. With regular maintenance, this will keep your septic system flowing freely.
  • Drainline Cleaning: Our team is equipped with the latest tools and technology to clean and clear any blockages in your drainlines, ensuring your septic system functions smoothly.
  • Grease Pumping: We specialize in grease pumping services to keep your septic system free from grease buildup, which can cause serious damage if left untreated.
  • Real Estate Inspections: Whether you're buying or selling a property, we can conduct thorough septic system inspections to identify any potential issues or problems.

How a Septic Tank Works

A septic tank is a private sewage treatment plant that works by separating waste water into three distinct layers: scum, partially clarified waste water, and sludge. The waste water flows from your home or business into the tank, where the water is naturally decomposed and then released into the drainfield.

In a cross-section of a septic tank, the waste water settles and separates with time. Waste such as oil and grease will float to the surface, creating scum, while solid waste heavier than water will fall to the bottom, creating sludge. While bacteria naturally found in the waste are working to break the waste down, the partially clarified waste water that remains in the center of the tank is then filtered through a pipe into the drainfield area, also called a leachfield or disposal field.

The wastewater is carefully distributed through a series of trenches, gravel, and perforated pipes that allow the water to release slowly, with the gravel acting as filters.
