Our Survey Process

At Southern Colorado Surveying, we take pride in our meticulous and thorough survey process. Our survey process includes the following steps:

Research: We begin by performing a thorough search for any documents related to the land, such as deeds, surveys, plats, highway right-of-way maps, and monument records.

Field Survey: Our team gathers evidence in the field, such as existing monuments, possession lines, and any specific features that could be considered the boundary line.

Boundary Line Determination: After gathering all the evidence, our surveyor will decide on the location of the survey boundaries. Existing corners may be accepted or rejected based on legal principles, evidence, and research.

Staking: Any missing corner monuments are set.

Survey Plat: A survey plat is drafted that reflects the results of the survey.

Recording: The plat is then deposited or recorded with the Clerk and Recorder's Office in the applicable county.

Subdivision Surveys

At Southern Colorado Surveying, we also provide subdivision surveys. Counties and municipalities have regulations for subdividing land, and our team can help ensure that your subdivision survey meets all the necessary requirements. We can assist with subdivision exemptions, major subdivisions, and minor subdivisions.
