It's a Burl is a family-owned and operated artisan wood and wooden furniture business that has been serving the community for over 30 years. Located in the picturesque town of Kerby, Oregon, our eclectic outdoor gallery showcases a wide variety of unique furniture items, raw materials, and artistic creations, all of which are designed to inspire and engage visitors. What We Do

At It's a Burl, we specialize in creating indoor and outdoor furniture, carvings, sculptures, home decor items, and interior design pieces, including mirrors, jewelry boxes, water features, wine stoppers, clocks, lamps, vases, bookends, cutting boards, bowls, hand mirrors, and many other burl wood creations. We also offer custom-made burl wood items, such as beds, bars, bar stools, coffee tables, sofa back tables, chairs, benches, signs, and more for use both indoors and outdoors.

Our business is proud to serve a wide range of clients, including contractors, artists, woodworkers, and discriminating consumers. Our products are made from raw hardwoods that are indigenous to the Pacific Northwest, ensuring that they are sustainable, organic, and naturally beautiful. Our History

It's a Burl was founded in 1987 by proprietors Harvey and Joy Shinerock, who moved to Southern Oregon from Northern California. At the time, Harvey was a burl woodworker, and Joy was a jeweler - they met selling their work at art shows and soon discovered a shared passion for art and woodworking. When they moved to Kerby, they converted the front of the historic Kerbyville Post Office into a showroom and began selling their creations to the community.

Over the years, the Shinerock family transformed the property into a wonderland of wood art, becoming a roadside attraction and a destination for artists and alternative-minded people. Today, the legacy lives on through the hearts and hands of the Shinerock family and the many friends who have contributed to the evolution of Its a Burl. Our business remains committed to showcasing the natural beauty and artistic potential of burl wood, while also providing a unique and inspiring space for visitors from all walks of life.
