Healing Through Connection
I am Elizabeth Asta, PhD, a licensed psychologist with fifteen years of experience dedicated to providing compassionate and empowering therapy. Over the years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside countless individuals on their journeys of personal growth and healing. I am deeply passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. My approach to therapy is built on the fundamental belief that every individual possesses the inherent strength and wisdom to navigate life's challenges.
Specializing in Empathy and Understanding
My clinical expertise extends to a wide array of concerns, including eating disorders, gender identity exploration, anxiety, depression, trauma, college mental health, grief, relationship difficulties, cultural/identity exploration, and postpartum/new parenting challenges. I take pride in my ability to tailor my therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.
My practice has two primary areas of specialization: eating concerns and gender identity support. These are complex and sensitive areas, and I strive to create a collaborative and affirming space where individuals can feel empowered to explore their experiences and pursue healing.
A Collaborative Approach to Healing
I firmly believe in a collaborative approach to therapy. My role is not to dictate solutions but rather to work alongside you as a partner, providing guidance and support as you navigate your path to well-being. My aim is to empower you with the tools and self-awareness needed to make lasting positive changes in your life.
A Blend of Evidence-Based Therapies
I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), interpersonal process therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, feminist therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). These modalities provide a robust framework for addressing diverse challenges and fostering personal growth.
The therapeutic process often involves exploring the intricate connections between relationships, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Together, we will identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself.
I am dedicated to creating a sense of belonging and authenticity within the therapeutic relationship. I encourage clients to embrace their full range of identities, including their gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and spiritual beliefs. I believe that recognizing and honoring these multifaceted aspects of who you are is essential for fostering self-acceptance and well-being.
