Quality Products, Precise Customization, and Exceptional Service
At Macon Municipal Utilities (MMU), we have been providing our customers with top-notch services in electric, water, wastewater, and natural gas since 1890. We are a founding member of the Missouri Public Energy Pool (MoPEP) and along with 34 additional cities, we receive electricity from the Pool's resource portfolio. This portfolio includes a variety of resources such as clean coal, natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, and landfill gas.
Our water supply comes from Long Branch Lake, a project we were involved in developing in the 1970s. Sixty percent of the water from our treatment plant is sold to customers outside the city limits, with the remaining 40% being utilized by residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the city limits. Our wastewater treatment plant treats just under an average of 1 million gallons per day. As one of the six Combined Sewer Systems in the State of Missouri, we face regulatory compliance upgrades in the near future.
We deliver natural gas through Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and make purchases through Kinect Energy. Our services are governed by a four-member Board of Public Works, which is appointed by the City Council upon recommendation from the Mayor.
From the Board of Public Works
The Macon Board of Public Works meets monthly at 5 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 106 W. Bourke, Macon, MO 63552 on the third Monday of each month. The Board welcomes guests to all open session meetings; however, if you would like to speak or place an item on the agenda, you must complete a Public Participation Request Form. This form must be returned to the General Manager no later than 5:00 pm on the second Wednesday of the month.
Our Board members are dedicated to ensuring that our services meet the highest standards. Current Board members include Dana Ulmer, General Manager; David Ausmus, President; Jeff Roberts, Vice President; David Wilt, Board Member; Chris Nelson, Board Member.
