Empowering Lives Through Martial Arts

Our History

Trinity Martial Arts Academy (TMAA) was founded in 2000 by Mike and Sarah Franco in Kennewick, Washington. Since its inception, the academy has been dedicated to teaching traditional Okinawan Karate-Do to students of all ages and fitness levels. The dojo's lineage can be traced back to Hanshi Kanken Toyama, the founder of the original Shudokan dojo in Japan.

Our Instructors

Shinan Mike Franco, a second-generation dojo owner, has over thirty years of martial arts experience. Growing up, he trained with his father, Shihan John Franco Sr., at the family dojo in Toppenish, Washington. Sensei Sarah Franco, a seasoned martial artist with twenty years of experience, has been an integral part of the academy's growth and success.

Our Dojo

TMAA has two locations: Richland, Washington, serving the Tri-Cities area, and Hermiston, Oregon. Our dojos are members of the American Shudokan Association (ASA), which boasts thousands of members in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to regular classes, TMAA offers karate instruction to Homelink students in the Richland area, hosts self-defense seminars, and participates in local martial arts tournaments.
