Our Story

Doug and Michaelanne Johnson purchased Sunrise Kennels in 1977, and 13 years later, they acquired Woodmen Kennels, located right next door. Today, our facilities are still family-run, with all five of the Johnson children actively involved in the business. We're proud to have received numerous awards throughout the years, including the 2006 AKC Breeder of the Year and the 2006 Herding Dog of the Year award. In 2016, we were honored to receive the AKC Breeder of the Year award once again!
