Our Mission

At Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center, our mission is to provide compassionate and effective therapy services to children, adolescents, and families in a nurturing and supportive environment. We are dedicated to empowering children and families with the tools and resources they need to overcome challenges, build strong relationships, and achieve their full potential.

Specialized Services for Growing Minds

We understand that the needs of young individuals are unique and require specialized expertise. Our team of highly experienced and licensed Child Counselors and Family Counselors are dedicated to addressing a wide range of concerns that children and teens may face. From adjusting to life changes to navigating complex social situations, our team is here to guide children through these critical developmental stages.

Our services encompass a broad spectrum of issues, including:

• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): We utilize evidence-based therapies and strategies to help children with ADHD manage their symptoms, improve their focus, and develop effective learning and coping mechanisms.
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD): Our approach to ODD focuses on understanding the underlying causes of defiant behaviors and teaching children more constructive ways to express their emotions and interact with others.
• Behavioral Concerns: We address a range of challenging behaviors, such as physical aggression, defiance, temper tantrums, and destructive acts. Our goal is to help children develop self-regulation skills, improve their emotional control, and build positive relationships.
• Trauma and Grief: We provide a safe and supportive space for children who have experienced trauma or loss.

Our compassionate therapists use trauma-informed techniques to help children process their experiences, cope with emotional distress, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

• Social and Emotional Development: We support children in developing essential social skills, such as communication, empathy, and conflict resolution. We also help them build self-esteem, manage anxiety, and navigate the challenges of peer relationships.

Strengthening the Family Unit

Recognizing the crucial role families play in a child's well-being, we also offer a range of Family Counseling services designed to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family bonds. Our Family Therapists work with parents, children, and teens to address issues such as:

• Communication Challenges: We help families develop effective communication skills, create a more open and honest environment, and learn to listen to each other's needs.
• Co-Parenting Challenges: We provide guidance and support to parents who are navigating co-parenting arrangements after separation or divorce. We help them establish healthy boundaries, create a consistent parenting plan, and focus on the children's best interests.
• Family Conflict: We assist families in resolving conflicts in a constructive and healthy way. We teach conflict resolution skills, promote empathy and understanding, and help families build stronger relationships.

We maintain three convenient locations to serve the communities of Cape Girardeau, Farmington, and Arnold, Missouri. Our team is dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment where families feel comfortable seeking help.
