The Sarasota Retina Institute has been serving Sarasota and the surrounding area since 1981. We specialize in the treatment of diseases of the Retina and Vitreous, including Neuro-Ophthalmology, Orbital Disease, Trauma, and select cases of Cataract, Strabismus, Ocular Plastics, and Glaucoma. Our eye doctors are dedicated to researching, diagnosing, and treating complex eye problems such as Macular Degeneration, Retinal Detachments, Diabetic and Thyroid-Related Eye Diseases, Strabismus, Optic Nerve Diseases, Ocular Trauma, and infections. We also provide Low Vision Evaluations for patients with Advanced Eye Disease severely limiting their vision and quality of life.

The Institute is internationally recognized for its expertise in treating a wide range of eye conditions. Our team of highly skilled doctors, including Melvin C. Chen, M.D., Marc H. Levy, M.D., Jody G. Abrams, M.D., Usma P. Chatha, D.O., and Thomas C. Spoor, M.D., are committed to providing the highest level of care to each patient. Additionally, we have an Orthoptist, Rikki Gilligan, who specializes in treating eye muscle problems and aligning the eyes properly.

We are currently participating in several national clinical trials to enhance our understanding and treatment of various eye diseases. This includes trials for Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and other conditions. Our goal is to provide the latest treatments and improve patient outcomes.
