Our Mission

At The Children's Place Preschool, our mission is to provide a secure, trusting, and loving environment for children to thrive in a quality program. Our purpose is to foster wholesome social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth among the children under our care.

About Us

The Children's Place Preschool is a local provider of quality childcare programs in Santa Monica, California. We have knowledgeable teachers who have credentials with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and have many years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Our Executive Director, Kamilah Higgins, has over 27 years of teaching experience and has been part of our educational community since 1999. She has a great passion and enthusiasm for working with young children and works diligently to build students into great leaders, influencers, and entrepreneurs of the future.

Programs

We offer a range of high-quality programs designed to deliver quality childcare to your children. Our preschool program focuses on encouraging children to identify and express their feelings, solve problems non-violently by developing verbal skills, and enhance self-esteem through an exploration of their interests and ideas.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is individualized and reflects our philosophy and values. We believe in providing a friendly and supportive environment for our students, and we offer various activities to promote social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. Our programs also include parent discussion groups, family workdays, family potluck dinners, parent conferences, and a loving staff offering reliable and stimulating childcare.

Meal Preparation

We take pride in serving nutritious meals to our students. Our cook, Maria, has over 25 years of experience and prepares wholesome meals for the children and our staff. Our menu includes a variety of options, such as scrambled eggs, wheat toast, apples, and milk for breakfast, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, melon, and milk for lunch, and snacks like rice cakes, peanut butter, cream cheese, and 100% juice.

Class Schedule

Our preschool program is divided into three classes: Axolotl's Class for children aged 4-5 years old, Pangolin's Class for children aged 3-4 years old, and Bonobo's Class for children aged 2-3 years old. Our sample class schedule includes activities such as community play, outdoor play, inside activities, circle time, lunchtime, bathroom transitions, and snacking.
