Five years ago, I was shocked to receive an audit letter from the IRS about my tax return from 3 years earlier. With 3 years interest included, it was a large bill. I had never been audited before. So I went to my then-accountant and asked for help with dealing with the audit. He told me just pay the bill. No more help than that. Time for a new accountant.
I had heard Steve Moskowitzs commercials on the radio for several years and I liked the idea of having tax lawyers/accountants looking out for me. Then I received several more threatening letters from the IRS, so I set up an appointment with Steve. I brought my paperwork and we talked through the audit process. I worked with a team of his specialists. Everything Steve said came to pass and I wound up paying less half than what the IRS requested. Moskowitz LLP has handled all my accounting ever since.
Later, my sister and I decided to sell our parents home, since they had both passed away. The home was in another state and there was no mortgage, but capital gains were complicated in my sisters and my case. So I talked with Steve again and he set a team to work on the calculations, so I was set for the sale.
The sale took a while. Along the way to the sale, Steve made me aware of the different options available for deferring capital gains and the fact that my wife and I needed an estate plan. So Steve had different teams of people help us go through those. I was amazed at the tax traps they helped me to legally avoid.
Then the sale finally happened. I talked through the sale paperwork with the settlement people. Everything was set. Tight time deadline. Then the paperwork actually came and it was talking about additional issues that had not been discussed with me.
I could not sleep that night. Early the next morning I called up Moskowitz LLP and said I had an emergency and needed to talk with Steve. He was on a call, but he called me shortly afterward. After some discussion, Steve conferenced in one of his tax attorneys, who was actually licensed in the state where the sale was taking place! The attorney rearranged his schedule, I uploaded the sale documentation, the attorney reviewed it, and answered my questions that very morning. The sale went through and I am very happy.
Steve Moskowitz and his team are friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and can definitely respond to emergencies. If I could, Id give them 100 stars, rather than just 5!
One tax year, they even managed to get an IRS demand and threat of tax court thrown out for legal reasons the IRS would have never told me if I was on my own! I was looking at revised audits for 4 years and demand estimated back payments and penalties well over $150,000!
It's been reduced to under $14,000 settled on.
Since then, they have helped me plan a strategy to get my house in order and getting me on track and take advantage of tax deductions and estate planning that will help me in the near future and long term. Grateful.
I had to learn to manage my expectations of what is allowed legally and what is not. Sobering for sure.
It was tough to have to still pay back taxes with business writeoffs not allowed after the fact but there was a lot they fought the IRS over and had them back off and relent.
Sticker shock was an understatement for the firms legal services in fees for sure. But I get the same reactions from potential customers for my business when they reach out for professional services needed in my field for the first time too! It's all relative.
My reviews average 5 stars for over a decade but I have gotten a few 1 stars over services I never even rendered to them. Many have agendas and decide they need to be significant in their reviews. It's normal. I have had a most positive experience dealing with Steve and his staff. I trust them.

It was worth the money I paid them to work with the IRS on my behalf. Everything was resolved and I am personally relieved and happy to recommend their services.

When I had a tax matter arise for a business entity I controlled, I contacted his tax law office.
I initially thought the fee he quoted was a bit high. I went with the firm anyway .
The results from their representation were fine and the amount of work they spent on the case justified the fee charged.
. They answered all my questions, concerns, and options and I will continue to utilize their professional services and expertise for all my past, present, and future tax matters.

I would like to start out by stating that the situation that I found myself in was completely of my own doing. When I supplied my tax preparer with my information I failed to realize that I did not have all of my 1099s for that year. So he could not input materials that he was not supplied.
When you have someone prepare your taxes and something does not seem correct question it.
It seemed to me that my tax amount should have been higher but I did not question it at the time.
My experience with Moskowitz LLP was very good. I received a letter from the IRS stating that I had unreported income of nearly 400K and that they believed that I owed approximately 82K in back taxes.
I immediately called Moskowitz LLP whom I had heard advertise on the radio that they could deal with items like this, I left a message. That same day I received a call from Mr. Moskowitz and had a discussion on what I believed had happened (these funds were from an inheritance not income). He explained how his company worked, with a flat rate down payment (which to a 70 year old seemed a little expensive, but after thinking about it in these times it really wasnt unreasonable) that covered I believe the first 30 hours of his firms time, and if it took longer than this to resolve the issue that there would be an hourly charge accordingly. He also stated that in the end I might end up owing IRS the full amount but he hoped that I would not.
The system that they have is very easy to use even for a 70 old. I down loaded copies of the initial letter from the IRS to get started then downloaded further correspondence as I received it.
It took a couple of months with them going back and forth with IRS but the issue was resolved with me owing the IRS approximately 3.3K instead of the 82K they were originally looking for.
I would have no hesitation telling anyone to go to Moskowitz LLP with any issue regarding the IRS.
