I've been working with Chris for the past few months, and he has really challenged me to learn more complex strum patterns, new chords, and singing as I play. In the beginning, I didn't think my brain would be able to comprehend everything, but here we are. Chris is extremely patient (I'm a true beginner) and has been flexible with my schedule when needed. He brings the structure to learning guitar that I need, and I feel like I've truly progressed in the time I've been taking lessons.

My son (7 y.o.) has been taking guitar classes with Chris for the past few months, and we have seen steady improvement in his skill & concentration. He is a shy kid, and we are glad that he is learning & staying focused on a musical instrument at a relatively early age. Chris has a lot of patience & has been trying to get our kid out of his shell through encouragement & positive affirmations. Thank you!

Chris is an excellent teacher for beginners! While I am experienced in music (highschool marching band for 4 years), I am new to guitar.

Chris has made every step of the way enjoyable and memorable. He is extremely patient and works with your schedule. Even for a busy college student who doesn't have a lot of time to do more than just be a hobbyist, he is able to accommodate my skills and progression rate.

He's able to answer any and all of my questions, even off topic ones. This makes his teaching style extremely inclusive. I always have a great time with lessons. If you are on the fence and don't know where to start, Chris will help you get started. You will see progress with Chris, guaranteed.

The only downside is that because he is such an excellent teacher, there is a waitlist to become his student. I had to wait nearly a year to become a student. Was it worth it? Yes. He revived my passion for music.

TLDR: I highly recommend Chris for beginners!

Chris is is a great instructor. I started learning acoustic guitar with him in November and have seen consistent progress since then. Chris works through a curriculum for beginning students that is both manageable and challenging, leading to new skill development, week over week. From the start, I was playing simple songs and singing along with them! Chris is also really organized, and patient and I would not hesitate in recommending him as an instructor.

We've been really pleased with Chris' guitar instruction. He has a clear mastery of both the instrument and music theory, and it's helpful that he can play along or step in to demonstrate when needed. He is equally gifted at teaching and does not struggle to meet a student where they are at in their own musical journey. Chris fosters a very healthy learning environment, where progress is praised, and mistakes are corrected appropriately but without criticism. This creates a friendly dynamic in the lesson, where one doesn't feel anxious or self conscious about making mistakes along the way. Overall very pleased and would recommend.

My 13-year-old daughter has been taking lessons with Chris for over a year now and loves it! She didnt know much about guitar at all when she first started and now shes especially skilled with her rhythm, can now sing while she plays and plays in school chapels and events regularly thanks to the help she receives from Chris. Shes learned a lot about chords and how to play songs she enjoys, not just following a rigid formula. Im amazed at how much my daughter has excelled in such a short time period! He is really great at adapting to whatever skill level you are at and listens to what your preferences/needs are. Hes flexible with what fits your schedule too! Highly recommend!

It has been a pleasant experience taking my son to Chris's studio for almost two years, even though my son has speech problems and struggles to understand commands, he has made a lot of progress with the patience that Chris has had, and my son has improved quite a bit as much as with his guitar as well as academically, because this has helped him a lot in school, thank you very much Chris.

Chris is a thoughtful and present instructor who introduces new concepts while keeping each lesson exciting with new songs. He continued teaching even with a broken hand, and accommodated me switching from in-person to virtual lessons no problem. Fantastic teacher.

Highly recommend Chris as a teacher. I started as an absolute beginner guitar player, and I'm pleased with the progress I've made so far. He's a patient teacher who provides helpful instruction. He's also been flexible with me on weeks when I prefer an online lesson vs. in-person. I've had a very positive guitar learning experience with Chris.

I have been taking lessons from Chris for close to two years now. I started out as a total beginner and over that time he has helped me to develop the skills and technical knowledge necessary to both write and play the music that I truly enjoy. I admittedly do not have a lot of free time to devote to learning guitar but lessons with Chris always feel meaningful and impactful as they help me learn guitar in a way that is consistently exciting and rewarding for the time that I do have available put into it.

Chris is an astounding teacher. He is extremely organized, highly efficient, and really knows his stuff -- both as a musician and (more importantly) as a teacher. Chris has the unique ability to make his lessons as technical or as non-technical as his students prefer, and he does an excellent job of calibrating his teaching syllabus based on each student's specific needs, goals, and talents.

As an absolute beginner guitar student trying to fill time during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unsure at first of how well remote guitar lessons would go. I needn't have worried. Chris has done an exceptional job of teaching via Skype, and though he has a home studio where he can provide lessons during "normal" times, I have been very pleased with how our lessons have gone via video chat.

If you have a guitar tucked away in your closet that you'd like to learn to play, or if you're an experienced guitarist wanting to hone your chops, I can recommend Primeau Guitar Studio without hesitation.

Ive been receiving lessons from Chris for a little over a year now and my experience has been nothing but pleasant, productive, and personalized. Chris is extremely understanding and effective in his teaching style and I feel that I have grown greatly in my time learning from him. I am so glad to have him as a teacher and would urge anyone reading this to get in contact with him ASAP.

I've been taking lessons from Chris for several years now. We started at ground zero and pretty quickly worked up to playing and singing songs that I enjoy. I once went into a local guitar shop to get a setup done on my guitar and when I said who I was taking lessons from, they said, "oh Chris, yeah he knows what he's doing." You'll enjoy learning from Chris. And he keeps lessons right on schedule so you won't have to wait past your time slot.

I started working with Chris a couple months ago and have been so impressed by the lessons as an adult beginner. Although it has all been remote (due to COVID-19), that hasn't stopped him from being able to watch and comment on my form/technique and guide me through my mistakes. He's done a great job of teaching the basics, helping me understand guitar terminology, and learning chords and strum patterns. In fact, I am already able to roughly play several songs (they are only rough because I need to more practice!).

Chris is seriously the best!! He does a great job of assessing your skill level and goals and caters the lesson to you. He always gives me the perfect amount of material to work on throughout the week-- I always feel challenged but never overwhelmed. Would highly recommend.

"It'd be so fun to learn guitar someday."

"Someday." I'd told myself that for several years. I even got an inexpensive acoustic guitar one Christmas, and on more than one occasion I picked it up and looked for YouTube videos. Surely I could teach myself, right? I fantasized about how fun it would be to be able to strum through my favorite 80's power ballads around a campfire with friends. But inevitably, my efforts at self-teaching ended in frustration.

I finally concluded that unless I got serious and took lessons, "someday" learning guitar would end up becoming "never." I searched Yelp for guitar teachers and came across Chris Primeau.

I've been taking lessons with Chris for roughly one hour a week over the past year, and I'm staggered at my own progress. I can play dozens of songs with confidence. A year ago I couldn't play jack.

It's one thing to be tremendously talented at something (which Chris is), but it's another skill set to be able to transfer that information clearly to a student. Chris strikes a really great balance--tons of patience as you work through tasks, but also continually pushing you to grow. I look forward to every lesson.

If you're on the fence, just pull the trigger and book a lesson. Don't be surprised if his schedule fills up, but trust me when I say it's 100% worth the effort to get started with him. You'll be glad you did.

Chris is very knowledgeable, patient, and has a customized approach to teaching music based on each student's needs and interests. This makes for a truly tailored learning experience that is hard to get anywhere else. He also leverages technology heavily, making sure you always have all your learning materials within a digital's arm reach.

I started lessons with Chris a few years ago as a relative beginner, and after a few months every time Id perform for my friends theyd be impressed at how much my playing and confidence has improved. Chris has helped me hone a variety of skills, from fingerpicking to electric blues guitar solos, and easily made the leap from practical methods to music theory and back. Even just half an hour a week has opened up worlds to me. I cant recommend Chris Primeau enough.

Chris Primeau is largely responsible for preparing my grandson, Grayson, being accepted into Berklee College of Music- Boston. Grayson has worked with Chris over 6 years on guitar and the experience has been invaluable. Chris is a graduate of Berklee and is an excellent teacher. I recommend him very highly.

Prior to taking lessons with Chris, I had been self-taught for over 15 years with some sporadic instruction here and there. Coming from a classical piano background, I already had a good understanding of music theory and decent dexterity. Unfortunately, I had also developed several bad habits and had many gaps in my understanding of the instrument.

Chris's instruction has transformed me from someone who "plays the guitar" to someone who truly understands the instrument and its potential. In about 18 months of lessons my playing in terms of both technique and creativity are significantly improved, and I'm on the road to becoming the guitar player I've always wanted to be.

First and foremost, Chris is a great teacher. He has a tremendous depth of knowledge, loads of patience, and a variety of ways to get the objective met. I started taking lessons from him about a year ago, and he has been able to take a 52-year old, rhythmically challenged guy and actually teach me to play! Chris also does a fantastic job of knowing how to build on one's abilities and expand them. Book lessons now!

Talented, organized, positive and kind: these are just a few of the words I would use to describe Chris Primeau. Chris has been my daughters guitar teacher for 2 years. He is very patient with her, always on time and organized, always trying to find a balance between the type of music she wants to play and the kind of music she should be playing to get to the next level. Chris has brought a lot of joy to her life with his encouragement in not just playing others music, but starting to write her own. He is easy to work with as a parent, also. In the last 8 months we have upgraded to hour-long lessons to work on both theory and her current songs. Chris has a knack of keeping her involved the entire time, which can still be difficult for a 9 year old. I cannot imagine a better learning experience for my daughter!
For the last year I have been taking guitar lessons from Chris, also. Doing it more for a creative outlet and to help my failing memory than any sort of talent, Chris is great with me also. Patient and positive, even when I play like crap or havent had time to practice; I feel like he meets me at my level of commitment and speed without judgment or frustration. I recommend Chris wholeheartedly for any age or level of guitar instruction.

Chris Primeau is an excellent guitar instructor! At age 55, I am starting life over and wanted to pursue my long lost desire to play guitar. I had taken lessons as a teenager but even with countless hours of practice, never improved beyond beginner level. After just a few lessons with Chris, I have already surpassed my teenage skill level by far. I had tried another guitar instructor before finding Chris, but I much prefer Chris' teaching style. It's so much fun to practice popular songs rather than just playing scales or nursery school songs. I highly recommend Chris to anyone who wants to learn guitar or improve their current skills.
